There are a number of different ways you can move around the map on the web platform and app.
FATMAP on the web
Using your mouse or trackpad:
- Scroll up to zoom in
- Scroll down to zoom out
- Hold the Shift key down, click and hold the mouse/trackpad down and scroll in any direction to rotate the map around that position
- Hold the Control key down and scroll the mouse/trackpad in any direction to change your perspective
- Use the arrow keys to move forward, backward, left and right
- Hold the Shift key down and use the arrow keys to rotate the map around that position
Alternatively, you can use the map controls on the bottom right of the screen:
- Tap the compass to revert to a North facing position
- Use the arrows to rotate the map
- Use the plus and minus buttons to zoom in and out
- Tap the 2D button to view the map from an overhead '2D' aerial position
- Tap the 3D button to view the map from a lower '3D' position

FATMAP on your app
Using your fingers:
- Pull up/down/left/right with one finger to move around the map in its current orientation
- Use two fingers to pinch and widen to zoom in and from wide to small to zoom out
- Use two fingers and rotate them clockwise/anti-clockwise to change the orientation of the map. The map will rotate around that position
- If you want to change the angle you're viewing the mountains at, use two fingers and drag them up and down the screen
- To view the map in 2D, use two fingers and keep scrolling from top to bottom of the screen
- Tap the compass to revert to a North facing position
- To recentre the map around your location, tap the red dot in the bottom right-hand corner
Alternatively, you can use the map controls on the bottom right of the screen:
- Tap the compass to revert to a North facing position
- Use the clockwise and anti clockwise arrows to rotate the map
- Use the up and down arrows to change your viewing angle
- Use the plus and minus buttons to zoom in and out
