What's an Adventure?
An Adventure in FATMAP is a representation of your outdoor experience. It's something that's tracked and added to the app.
For example, you can connect your Garmin account, track with your Garmin watch and then see it in the FATMAP App.
Adventures can be created in the following ways;
- Recorded in the FATMAP app
- Imported from your Garmin, Suunto and/or Strava accounts
All of your Adventures can be found in your 'My Adventures' list by going to Profile > My Adventures.
Note: Adventures are different to Routes. Routes are created using the 'create a new route' feature on the web application and are found in Profile > My Routes.

We have a dedicated article here on tracking Adventures with either the FATMAP app or connecting your tracking device:

How do I edit my Adventures?
Once you've added some Adventures to your account, it's really easy to go back in and edit them.
- Go to your Profile tab in the FATMAP app and tap on My Adventures
- For the Adventure you want to edit, simply tap the three dots on the top right hand side of the Adventure card
- A pop up screen will appear, tap the Edit button
- You can now edit the Title, Description, add or delete photos, change the activity type, change the visibility settings or Delete the Adventure
- Once you have finished editing, simply hit the Save Adventure button
Where can others see my Adventures?
There are two places in the app other FATMAP users can see your Adventures if the visibility settings for those Adventures are set to 'The FATMAP Community' setting:
- Public Profile - this is your profile on FATMAP
- The Discover Tab - this shows recent activity near your location and from people you follow
How do I manage the visibility of my Adventures?
You can manage the visibility of your Adventures by simply tapping on the Settings button (the three little dots in the upper-right corner) on the Adventure card.
You'll see a little padlock icon on the card when the Adventure is set to 'Only Me' and will no longer be discoverable by other FATMAP users.
How do the visibility settings work?
Today, there are two visibility settings and they work slightly differently for some trackers;
- The FATMAP Community - This means your Adventures appear on your public profile and may be discoverable on the Discover tab. However, Strava adventures will never appear in the Discover Tab.

✅ ✅ Suunto ✅ ✅ Garmin ✅ ✅ Strava ✅ ❌ - Only me - This means your Adventures on are only seen by you in your 'My Adventures' list. You are still free to share these adventures with others via a link from the app. Anyone with that link will then be able to preview the Adventure on the map but still won't be able to see your activity in the Discover Tab or on your Profile.

How can I manage the visibility of Garmin/Suunto imported adventures?
When you first connect to Garmin/Suunto you will have the option to import your existing recorded tracks as either 'The FATMAP Community' or 'Only Me'.
After that, all future imports will follow that. If at any time you'd like to change your mind you are able to change that from the 'Settings' page - Settings > Tracking Apps & Devices > Manage Garmin/Suunto.
Matching the visibility of our tracking providers
The Garmin, Suunto and Strava apps all allow you to set the visibility of the tracks you record with their apps/devices.
For Strava tracks
FATMAP is able to take those visibility settings and map them in the following way:
- Everyone - If your Strava track is set to 'Everyone' then we map it to 'The FATMAP Community'
- Followers/Only Me - If your Strava track is set to one of the other two available settings the we map it to 'Only Me' in FATMAP
For Garmin/Suunto tracks
Unfortunately, we do not receive any information from Garmin or Suunto about the visibility settings you have chosen in their apps. We simply receive the track and some other basic time and sport type information.
FATMAP will respect the visibility settings you chose when connecting your Garmin/Suunto accounts and whatever setting you have chosen for future imports if you ever decide to make any changes.
How can I manage the visibility of more than one Adventure at the time?
Today, we offer the ability to bulk edit all of your existing Adventures. By going to - Tracking Apps & Devices > Manage my Adventures - you are able to trigger a one time visibility edit.
You can either set all your existing Adventures to 'The FATMAP Community' or 'Only Me' visibility setting.
Any future imported Adventures will follow the rules you have set in the 'Manage Garmin/Manage Suunto' settings page.
Note: this functionality does not apply to any of your Routes which are managed from the web application.
